Welcome Letter

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

The first World Congress of the International Dermoscopy Society took place in 2006 in Naples (Italy). Since then, the International Dermoscopy Society has organized World Congresses every three years in Barcelona (Spain), Brisbane (Australia) and Vienna (Austria). During the latest World Congress in 2015, the event has attracted more than 1000 participants all over the world.

The aim of the 5th World Congress of the International Dermoscopy Society held from 14-16th June 2018 in Thessaloniki, Greece is to grant the enthusiasm for dermoscopy by providing a deep global insight into the new developments and directions of dermoscopy and other skin imaging techniques. The interactive congress offers a direct communication of clinicians, experts, researchers and representatives of industry to guarantee a successful outcome for every participant. International experts are invited to share their knowledge throughout presentations and to discuss all new directions of skin imaging and diagnostics. In addition, social events will give participants the opportunity to interact with others and the world’s leading experts in a familiar setting.

On behalf the International Dermoscopy Society it is my pleasure to welcome you in Thessaloniki to 5th World Congress of the International Dermoscopy Society.

I am looking forward to spend these days of update, information and fun with you!

With my best regards,

Prof. Iris Zalaudek

Welcome Letter

In our evolving world with the provision of loss or modification of 80% of existing jobs, mainly due to Artificial Intelligence involvement in the near future, Dermoscopy and its related techniques will hopefully preserve their highly appreciated position and popularity in Medical Community, because of the sense of immediacy, reality and scientific knowledge that offer.

The 5th World Congress of Dermoscopy aims at outlining the methods and tools to be used in the years to come, while providing in depth knowledge of up-dated Dermoscopy uses. As a Dermatovenereologist and President of the Hellenic Dermoscopy Society, I am privileged having the opportunity to welcome you in Thessaloniki, a city with an uninterrupted history of 24 centuries.

General Information

The 5th WCD Congress and Exhibition will be held at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall in the city of Thessaloniki, in Greece (http://www.tch.gr/). Thessaloniki Concert Hall was created in order to satisfy the need of the city for a venue that could house not only artistic, but also various other activities.

The Thessaloniki Concert Hall was built along the coast of the city, near the Posidonio Athletic Center of Thessaloniki, in an area of 18.000 sq. m., which was donated from the Greek State. The architectural pre-studies were bequeathed to the Thessaloniki Friends of Music Society from the “sister” Athens Friends Music Society, whereas the construction of the venue was financed in its entirety by national funds from the Ministry of Culture and Sciences as well as from EU funds of the 2nd Community Support Framework.
